  i have served 20 years as an elder, 5 years as an ms. was on the district committee in 2010, held various positions on the district , circuit, and rbc level.

  probably been on more than 100 judicial committees and even an appeals committee.

  was the coordinator in our congregation and deleted because adult child was df ( i kicked him out at the time of his wrongdoing, but that wasn't enough for thr brothers).

  i have to admit i never really thought about this question until one of my classmates challenged me with this very question.

  she made an excellant point and i have to admit i am asking myself the same question does jehovah enjoy watching people suffer.

  the case she brought up was the flood story.

  "Faith" will often present you with paradoxes like these. In a Christians mind, all good comes from gawd. All bad comes from satan. They read their bibles more than anybody and yet they still don't see YHVH for the prick he is. All through the bible while the mighty YHVH is killing millions and demanding humans love and worship him and sacrifice to him.. While satan never hurt a fly. Never lied, carried through on every promise. It's like he's the biblical freedom fighter looking to free mankind from the evil dictatorship of YHVH.

  All the while, Christians are ignorant enough to claim that evolution is untrue.

  How will the WT spin China???

  i read an article this morning on how china is quickly reaching even footing with the united states in all aspects; military, economic etc.

  the article continued saying how it was imperative that the united states recognize that it would be forced to behave accordingly or risk ddestabilizing the world.

  another interesting statement was made that sooner rather than later the u.s. would become the 2nd largest economy falling behind china.

  The WT would say that the US is still the largest most aggressive military power and therefore is still the king of the south or whatever. Or they will just ignore it altogether and hope everyone will forget like the Soviet Union being the king of the north.... Big "revelation from the lord" that was.

  Some odd developments

  so things are not making sense at all here in my fade.

  as i had posted earlier, i had a long intense talk the other night with my husband where i thought it was crystal clear just where i'm at right now with the wtbts.

  then, the same week, he's not feeling well and asks me to take the kids to the mid-week meeting.

  To him, it's The Truth. Getting you to meetings can only make you understand that! In his head, if he is a believer, that is the only proper outcome. Besides, even if his wife is "spiritually sick" the kids still need to get to the meetings. Just consider things from his POV.

  He often do you two talk about this kind of thing? Was this the first time? Was dropping hints and planting seeds not working for you? I would hope that your time on this board would have shown you that the "laying it on the table" approach simply DOESN'T work.

  When you do have chats, does he seem to listen or even hear what you say? Does he get defensive? Who usually ends the conversation?

  Dont get mad at him when he does stuff like this. Just restate your position respectfully, If necessary. Above all, show him that you're a much better, more loveable person without the org.

  Next time the subject comes up, let him speak. Ask him what his position is, how he feels about all of this. Answer his questions clearly and quickly, but above all let him SPEAK. Seek to understand, then to be understood.

  Let your parents feel and say as they please for the moment, but do NOT let them influence your hubs in regards to what to do about you.

  That is GREAT! I think all of us fantasize about having that conversation with some good friends. I know I certainly do. Does he have any idea how lucky he is that he chose YOU of all people to talk to about this? Anyone else would have run away screaming APOSTATE!!

  Just as long as your friend won't turn around and out you for any reason... And he should also know that he has you to come to when he's stressed or confused about WT issues.

  I look forward to reading your buddy's intro post on JWN!

  i have an answer.. how can you tell someone is vegan or a vegetarian?.

  answer - you wont have to, because they will tell you every single day over in over in food post, recipes and bragging about how good they feel.

  Of course there isn't a new NWT. It's already the very best bible translation done by anybody, ever! And of course they're out of stock in the US.... Everyone wants one! They must be placing them fast. Everyone wants the Truth!

  Seriously though.. Would a revised NWT not cause some to question the validity of the first one? The last thing they want is to have members researching the translation on their own.

  I am NOT looking forward to this torture sesh. I am, however looking forward to a trip to the city with my wife and some good friends. We'll be eating good food at nice restaurants every night, staying in a nice hotel (WT approved of course), and doing some shopping while we're in town. It turns out our close Dub friends are actually really cool and I like spending time with them. ASSembly weekend is always a mini vacation because we have to travel over 4 hours to get there.

  The Watchtower Can't Make A Profit On Printing Propaganda What Will Be Its Next Source Of Income?

  with internet access to material published by the watchtower and it being offered free door to door and at the congregation literature counter it should not be surprising that the wtb&ts doesn't make the same profit as before when literature had to be paid for.. so the nonprofit corporation must turn to other sources of income, like playing bank with the congregation's money, as well as selling property of which they have a sizable fortune.

  beg for more money from the mostly poor rank and file, suggest willing leaving valueble property to the corporation, mandatory tithing, and etc.... part of this sellable property are kingdumb halls owned by incorporated congregations which thier by-laws give the wt complete control.

  as times get worse for this corporations i would expect them to be tapping this source of revenue more frequently.. they are selling all their brooklyn buildings, and closing down branches and selling the property, and they are selling kingdom halls(who gets the money?)..

  Printing pubs costs money. Think about it. They can't possibly be making enough to cover production costs, even with the slave labour. The org is worth billions.

  While this may at times cause liquidity issues, they surely are in a position to keep themselves afloat for a long time to come. They can buy and sell rel estate all they like, and do it tax free. We can't expect them to be fading off the scene because of money problems anytime soon. All they have to do is get some COs to suggest some congs' KHs are getting too old. A new property is purchased with money borrowed from the org, the debt is paid by that cong and neighbouring congs. The old hall is then sold off and proceeds go to the nearest branch.

  If the hall is an older one and the title is still held by the local elder body, the branch must seize ownership of the property. The CO suggests a renovation, at a cost that is estimated at what it would cost if contractors were hired to do the job. The cong votes to take a loan out from the branch for said cost, and the title is turned over to the branch for 'security'. The building is renovated using volunteer labour, the loan is repaid by the local Dubbies, and the branch owns the title.

  Seems like a very nice business plan to me!
